Individualized Immunotherapy Tools

Personalized Medicine

Immunotherapies have significantly changed the treatment and disease outcome of patients with many types of solid cancers and hematologic neoplasias. At iiT, we use tumor biology and mathematical modeling to guide the optimal choice of immunotherapy for patients with lymphoma and leukemia — maximizing treatment success and minimizing side effects.

We provide the right treatment, individually tailored to each patient.

The Challenge

A New Era of Cancer Immunotherapy

Over the past decade, advances in immunotherapeutic strategies — particularly the development of immune checkpoint inhibitors, antibody–drug conjugates, and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies — have revolutionized the therapeutic landscape of oncology. These modalities have demonstrated unprecedented efficacy across multiple malignancies, resulting in durable clinical responses and markedly improved survival outcomes in patient populations previously refractory to conventional treatments.

However, despite these breakthroughs, one key question remains:
Which therapy works best for which patient?

Lymphomas and leukemias can respond very differently to treatments like CAR T-cells or bispecific antibodies. Understanding the biological and molecular basis of this variation is essential to make therapy decisions truly personalized.

Our Vision & Approach

Turning Data into Personalized Therapy

iiT develops computational tools that predict the most effective immunotherapy for each individual patient.
By integrating tumor biology, immune profiling, and mathematical modeling, we aim to:

  • Optimize therapy decisions in lymphoma and leukemia
  • Reduce unnecessary side effects
  • Improve clinical trial design
  • Enable smarter use of healthcare resources

Research & Innovation

Scientific Innovation at the Interface of Biology and Mathematics

By fusing computational intelligence with biological understanding, we aim to transform immunotherapy and redefine cancer treatment.

Current Research Topics:

  • Predictive models for therapy response in B-cell lymphomas and leukemias
  • Integration of molecular and immunological biomarkers
  • Simulation of treatment outcomes using patient-derived data

Collaborations:
We work closely with the Salzburg Cancer Research Institute (SCRI)Laboratory of Immunological and Molecular Cancer Research — and maintain a strong partnership between laboratory science and in silico modeling at the iiT Computational Lab.
